Nursing homes are supposed to be a place where loved ones can go to receive special care as they get older and need assistance on a daily basis. Unfortunately, many stories have been coming out regarding horrific abuse in nursing homes throughout the country.
In order to gain peace of mind knowing that their family members and loved ones are properly cared for, many people are turning to nanny cams and hidden cameras for nursing homes in order to make sure their loved ones are treated with the respect and dignity that they deserve.
Whether there is physical or verbal abuse, or simply neglect, one of the most important things you can do is to recognize the signs of abuse at a nursing care facility.
As people get older, they may become less and less likely to recognize or to even stand up to bullying and abuse at a nursing facility, which is why is important to get evidence and documentation that abuse has or is occuring.
A nanny camera for nursing homes can help you get that evidence. By setting up a hidden camera, you'll be able to see exactly how the nursing home staff treats its residents, and make sure your loved ones are being take of properly.
The first thing you should look at when selecting a nanny camera or hidden camera for a nursing home is how it's going to be powered. In many situations, your loved one may not be able to operate the nanny cam themselves, so operation should be as hands free as possible.
For this reason we recommend an AC powered hidden camera, so that you won't have to worry about charging batteries every day or two. This makes the nanny cam much easier to operate, and requires less intervention on your part.
After you've decided on how to power the camera, the next step is to determine what style will blend in best into the environment. A hidden camera like an alarm clock can sit out in the open without drawing too much attention to it, while a camera like our DIY pinhole camera kit can be hidden so that no one even knows that it is there. It's up to you to decide what you think will blend in the best.
The next aspect to consider is whether you want a live streaming WiFi hidden camera, or a hidden camera that just records to a memory card. A WiFi camera connects to an existing WiFi network - so the first step in deciding if you can use one of these cameras is whether or not the nursing home where the camera is going to be placed has a WiFi network available.
One of the main benefits of a WiFi camera is that you can see what's happening live, right on your smartphone. This will allow you to look in at any time, and keep an eye on what's going on, even if you're across the city, state, or even the world.
Most WiFi cameras do also allow you to record video as well, if you want to record what is going on, even if you aren't watching live.
If you don't have WiFi access at the location where the camera is going to be located, the other option is an all-in-one self recording hidden camera. These cameras do not need WiFi to operate, and simply record video (motion activated or continuous) to a hidden memory card, which you can later retrieve and watch on your computer.
If you have a WiFi camera, you may just be watching live footage on your smartphone, but if you also record video to a memory card, or if you're using an all-in-one camera that just records to a memory card, the first step to watching your video is to remove the memory card from the camera, and inserting it into your PC or Mac computer.
From there, hopefully the footage you'll see is of your loved ones being treated with care and respect. If that is not the case, the footage you have collected can help you in getting justice for any mistreatment or abuse that may have occured.
